Para mantener vivas las tradiciones de la región, en Grand Velas Spa se ofrece la Manteada Maya, una técnica ancestral de masaje con mantas y rebozos para lograr una importante conexión emocional, creando un ritmo para que la relajación y auto curación se activen en el metabolismo.
En la medicina tradicional maya, se utilizan las mantas para acomodar la columna vertebral y aliviar los dolores de espalda. Las mujeres usan su destreza para “acomodar” y voltear a un bebé en el vientre de su mamá cuando está por nacer y no tiene una buena posición; también se usa para cerrar hombros y cadera (para aliviar las dolencias de las mujeres unas semanas después de dar a luz, o incluso años después). Esto se hace con mantas o rebozos, los cuales se amarran a la cintura para empujar al bebé o en los brazos y caderas para alinear la columna por medio de estiramientos.
Trabaja a partir de la columna vertebral, para “acomodar”, usando rebozos y con movimientos y estiramientos de un lado a otro del cuerpo para trabajar sobre las tensiones y emociones acumuladas, dando un beneficio de relajación y liberación inmediata. Se benefician los diferentes cuerpos (el físico, el químico, el emocional y el espiritual, según esta sabia cultura). Elimina contracturas y tensiones, “nudos”, torceduras; y con ella se logra el acomodo de vértebras y corrección de la postura.
